John Dumey has extensive experience in development and communications. John is currently the Director of Development and Communications at A Better Chance and previously served as the Director of Development at The Brotherhood/Sister Sol. In these roles, they managed teams, worked with boards and key supporters, secured partnerships with foundations, corporations, and individuals, and successfully completed capital campaigns and met operating budgets. Prior to these positions, John served as the Deputy Director of Development at Equal Justice Initiative, where they managed fundraising efforts, prepared grant proposals and reports, engaged with major donors, and implemented a capital campaign. John also worked as an Organizational Development Specialist at The Innocence Project, providing training and coaching on organizational development to network members. Additionally, John served as a Development Manager at New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, where they collaborated with the team to raise funds, managed institutional giving programs, and organized fundraising events. John has also held roles at Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, The TEAK Fellowship, and Prep for Prep.

John Dumey began their education at Poly Prep Country Day School, where they completed their high school education from 1989 to 1997. John then pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in History at Connecticut College from 1997 to 2001. After a break in their formal education, John continued their studies and obtained a Master's Degree in Nonprofit Management from The New School from 2014 to 2016.
