Helen Waldschmidt

Helen Waldschmidt is a Senior Scientist at AbbVie, with extensive experience in medicinal chemistry and drug design. Prior to this role, Helen served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at The Scripps Research Institute, contributing significantly to projects focused on synthesizing key intermediates for scytophycin B, aimed at use in antibody drug conjugates. Helen obtained a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Michigan, where research included synthesizing inhibitors for G protein-coupled receptor kinases. Earlier educational experiences at Purdue University involved synthesizing peptides as biosensors for chronic myeloid leukemia and working on isotopic analyses related to ozone pollution. Helen holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biochemistry and has completed a study abroad program at the University of Bath.
