Senior Vice President, Clinical Operations at University Health

Emily Volk has a diverse work experience in the field of healthcare and pathology. Emily has held various roles throughout their career. Emily started their career as a Resident in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Cleveland Clinic from 1993-1997, followed by a fellowship in Gastrointestinal Pathology/Transfusion Medicine from 1997-1998. Emily then worked as a Cytopathology Fellow at William Beaumont Hospital from 1998-1999. Emily later joined JJ Humes and Associates as a Pathologist from 1999-2002.

From 2003-2009, they served as the Vice Chief of Pathology and Laboratories at William Beaumont Hospital in Troy, MI. Emily then joined Clinical Pathology Associates as a Pathologist from 2010-2015. During the same period, Emily also worked as the Medical Director of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Baptist Health System.

In 2015, Emily joined Tenet Healthcare as a Consultant, and later moved to Baptist Health System as the Chief Quality Officer from 2015-2017. Currently, they are serving as the Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations at University Health System since 2017.

In addition to their roles in various healthcare organizations, Emily has also been actively involved in the College of American Pathologists (CAP) as a Board Member since 2012.

Emily Volk received a Bachelor's degree and Medical Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, from 1987 to 1993. Emily later pursued a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Business Administration and Management from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, from 2008 to 2014.
