Garry Ure

Garry Ure has a diverse work experience in the field of data management and governance. Garry started their career at Lloyds Banking Group as a Senior Business Analyst, where they played a key role in developing best practices and strategies for data quality assessment and management. Garry then worked at HBOS as a Data Improvement and Risk Consultant, where they provided consultancy to identify issues affecting data quality and implemented a Data Stewardship program.

Garry also worked as a Director at Midnight Blue Consultancy Limited, providing data quality consultancy and business analysis services to clients such as Standard Life. At Standard Life, they served as a Data Management Consultant, contributing to the Solvency 2 program by interpreting regulatory requirements, assessing data quality, and implementing data governance policies and standards.

In their role at FGB, Garry led the Data Governance function, overseeing the design, implementation, and evolution of the governance framework and data quality improvement methodology. Garry also took on the interim role of Head of Business Intelligence, ensuring the organization's business intelligence needs were met.

Most recently, Garry joined Zand as the Head of Data Enablement, where they built and led the Data Function, delivering strategic data products and solutions across data management, data engineering, business intelligence, architecture, and intelligent automation. Garry adopted a product management approach and led cross-functional squads to rapidly deliver innovative data solutions.

Throughout their career, Garry has demonstrated expertise in data management, data governance, data quality, and business intelligence.

Garry Ure completed their education in a chronological order, starting from their high school education at Dunfermline High School from 1991 to 1997. Afterward, they pursued a BTEC Diploma in Art & Photography at Newcastle College from 1997 to 1998. Following this, they attended Edinburgh Napier University from 1999 to 2003, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) (hons) degree in Photography, Film & Imaging. Later, Garry undertook a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program in Business Administration and Management, General at Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, which they completed in 2018.

Additionally, Garry Ure obtained a certification as a PRINCE2 Registered Practitioner from the Knowledge Academy in June 2013.
