Andrew MacBride

Director of Scientific Computing at Convergent Genomics

Andrew MacBride has a wealth of experience in the field of scientific computing. Andrew began their career in 1994 as a consultant for Splash Research. In 2003, they became a Professional Services Consultant for Yahoo!, Inc. Andrew then moved on to become an Informatics Curator for Stanford University in 2005. In 2006, they were a Principal Architect for Omicia, followed by a Senior Software Engineer role at Workday in 2008. From 2010 to 2018, they were the Founder and Principal Architect of Station X, a company that was acquired by Roche in 2018. In 2014, they became a Senior Systems Architect at GoPro. In 2015, they were a Director of Systems Architecture at Veracyte, Inc. and in 2019 they became the Director of Scientific Computing at Convergent Genomics. In 2021, they were appointed as an On Deck Deep Tech Fellow.

Andrew MacBride has a BA in Molecular Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. Andrew then attended Stanford University from 2018 to 2022, studying Materials Science and Nanotechnology. Prior to that, they attended Stanford University from 2003 to 2005, studying Computational Biology/Bioinformatics. Andrew is currently enrolled in the University of Oxford, where they are pursuing an MS in Nanotechnology. Andrew has also obtained certifications from Coursera and Stanford University, including AI In Healthcare Specialization, Nanoscale Materials Science, Nanotechnology: A Maker's Course, and Bioinformatics.
